Captain Fred Davis was one of those fortunate people, able to live a lifestyle envied by all. He elected to abandon a conventional workplace to fulfill a life long dream and “go to sea” as a fishing charter captain. He obtained a head boat and chartered for "Perch" for 25 years out of a small port at the tip of Michigan’s Thumb, Port Austin.
Other water related activities that kept him busy included his
marine towing and salvage company, Thumb Marine, which he owned
and operated for over thirty
years.
Numerous story ideas are the result of events that he witnessed. Through writing,
he passed on to his readers, advice to help them learn from the mistakes
of others.
